DIY Marketing

By November 13, 2018Blogposts

In a time where content is imperative to creating a footprint in your marketplace, we often lose sight of the old adage: quality over quantity.

Your content has to showcase your product or service offering, but it also needs to highlight your personality. What is it that separates you, from the pack. Videos are tossed on YouTube with haste and even your mom doesn’t listen to every podcast that you record. You spend hours each day to become an influencer or to develop a brand, and yet- you have fewer followers than Jake Paul on MySpace (note: no one uses MySpace, which predated Jake Paul- it’s a stretch of a metaphor).

Your iPhone has replaced professional photographers and videographers. The low-resolution 16 second video of the Drake concert you attended, that grainy snapshot of the food you didn’t make or that mirror gym selfie- absolutely showcases your brand and what you’re about. World class photography? Absolutely. Relentless work ethic? No doubt! These killer posts are sure to get views. 8 views. You have no subscribers to anything that you do. But you don’t need help. You’ve saturated every corner of social media marketing: website, Twitch, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Podcast, Reddit, Tumblr, Snapchat, screaming at passersby… If it exists, you have it. And you’re posting more than anyone out there.

You have an affinity for knowing trends. You identify an untapped market and plan on cornering it, armed with your smartphone, PC and a great attitude. Is that enough? Will you be able to compete within your local market; a market brimming with many, just like you- perhaps with more aggressive ad placement, better contacts, or even a stronger brand and image.

It’s not enough to have a captivating blog, or a jaw-dropping website, if there’s no audience.

Admit it. Whatever you’re doing- it’s not working.
